Last week we spent $450 on groceries for the week. We are a household of 8. It is insane. We are frugal shoppers. I shop only sales and at 3 different stores. We used to be treading water. Now we are drowning.
I'm a manufacturing manager supplying the mining industry. Crushed stone production, used for roads, residential and commercial construction, dropped almost 5% in Q1 compared to Q1 2023. We're all wondering where the "infrastructure" bill funding disappeared to. This wasn't supposed to happen. We were going to "Build Back Better" if I recall correctly. We are seeing a slow motion train wreck. These things aren't being reported by the main stream media but they have to be aware of what is going on.
And how about adding car insurance, house insurance, electricity, heating, property tax increases, etc. I’m living on credit cards. I’m afraid of our personal future and children’s future. And this does NOT include ww3 fears!
We are now rolling bills from month to month. We had to reduce our car insurance to liability only (our cars are paid for) and that is still over $200 a month. Our electricity: over $300. My husband works from home with variable hours. It’s a nightmare. We pay $900 a month for health insurance. I spend my days figuring what we can live without and spend my nights praying for God to get us through. I am between jobs and don’t start my new one until August! God help us.

The real cause of inflation is debt. This was started by the Republican Party when Nixon took us off the Gold standard (totally UN-Constitutional, and no one blinked an eye). Both parties maintained this fraud for 54 years; now it's dying, and there is nothing we can do. The masters behind this plan set this up 54 years ago (Nixon and Kissinger) knowing this would kill the dollar, kill this nation, and bring in the global NWO and let the dollar die to new global currency and tell everyone, we don't know what happened (or blame it on someone or event) but this is the only way to fix this and it will be so much better.
I do a little trading in stuff, mainly hobby items. I don’t make money doing it, probably have lost a slight amount of money over the years. I do it to get rid of things I’m not using and make room for new stuff. Lately, it has become impossible to get rid of things at anywhere close to what I paid, even for unused items. I’m getting out of it now, because the market has fallen completely out of it. People don’t pay for anything that isn’t essential now. I went to the grocery over the weekend, bought some stuff for dinner and a couple of household items. Walked out sixty dollars lighter and none of it was anything extravagant. People need to go pick up a book or two on what happens when things turn bad in formerly comfortable societies. It isn’t pretty, and we’re about there.
Venezuela is likely the most recent example of what you describe. There friends of ours have related Horror stories of the 'de-evolution' of a society...as you say, 'It AIN'T Pretty.'
So, what then happens when - not IF - that phenomena begins propogating GLOBALLY?
In any complex system there exist the possibility that the driving impulses acting on said system will 'destabilize' that from even the possibility of seeking out and establishing a new 'equilibrium'.

Postive Feedback loops act to DRIVE physical systems continuously closer and closer to the EDGE of thier operational envelopes...until DISASTER occurs.
Witness the simple example of a parent pushing a child seated on the seat of a swingset. Initially, the action produced is wholly predictable and regular, ie, periodic. However, IF the parent - synonymous with a DRIVING FORCE - continues to be applied then the swing grows wider and wider, higher and higher.
AT SOME POINT a critical threshold is reached and instead of regular, periodic motion the arc of the SWING grows great enough that the Child on the Seat rises SO HIGH that the swing abruptly changes it's character completely.
Specifically, said Child's 'swing' rises up beyond 90 degrees from the vertical. Beyond that point IF the arc RISES any HIGHER at all, the system - child, parent, SWING - becomes ABRUPTLY Chaotic.
The Child passes ABOVE the horizontal line, arcs BEYOND THAT and suddenly FALLS STRAIGHT DIWN until the chains holding the seat snap HARD arresting the fall...
Likely you yourself have seen this very thing happen, no...yes?
The issue is that ANY physical system HAS an 'envelope' in which it's predictability can be deterministically ascertained. PUSH that system - INCLUDING a Civilization - beyond that envelope and Catastrophe ensues.

Around Noon, 'something' is clearly AMISS as ALL THE MARKETS are seen to DROP enough - typically 10% - that the exchange's 'Circuit Breakers' engage and all trading comes to an abrupt halt. The Pundits are mystified but ASSURE everyone that Trading tomorrow will resume and everything WILL 'Be coming UP Roses' by tomorrow Afternoon once the Exchanges reopen.
The following day those do indeed open and by noon ANOTHER 10% LOSS is realized, and again the Echanges Suspend Trading, TEMPORARILY. TWO hours later those reopen and ANOTHER 10% LOSS occurs much FASTER than had the previous episodes. The Exchanges ATTEMPT to blame the curious anomaly on Software Issues and declare a 'Transient Suspension' of Trading for at LEAST 24 HOURS.
This is the CUSP of when things begin to go VERY WRONG INDEED...
The MAJORS - Such as Citi, BoA, Wells-Fargo, JP Morgan and Goldman-Sacks ALL convene Emergency Board meetings that Evening, preparing for the 'inevitable': An Inevitability ENGINEERED by those and BY THOSE ABOVE THEM.
Abruptly the following day - during which the Markets AGAIN do not open - a rather large number of people going out to get groceries and other sundries find that thier 'Plastic' - which they YET have open Credit on, some large, some small, are being universally DECLINED. Initially, that is spun by thier parent companies as mere 'glitches'.
Perhaps the Markets DO open the following day...if they do, then the result is ASSURED: The Breakers engage early and ALL TRADING is summarily suspended without mention of when those WILL reopen.
By then we are at either Thurday or Friday, likely Friday. If the latter, then the End IS NIGH. Credit Cards contnue to be declined in evrr greater numbers, RAPIDLY climbing into the hundreds of Millions.
About that point the Networks are SCREAMING about 'Cyber-Attacks' on the Exchanges AND the Credit Card issuers, claiming that 'AGRESSIVE Messures' are being taken to HALT the ongoing Carnage, ASSURING everyone that ALL will be restored within a 'few more days'...timeline NOT SPECIFIED.
About that point the Global Derivatives Market begins sending out 'signals' indicating that SOMETHING is amiss there also. THE INSTANT you 'hear' ANYTHING of that sort the End is NOT Nigh...it is UPON us all.
Thereafter the latter begins to IMPLODE, RAPIDLY...every entity, everywhere declares 'Force Majeure' as a legal 'insulation' against anyone attempting to obtain a Court Injunction against them.

Turns out he's INCREDIBLY talented at discerning 'trails' hereabouts that I had never noted. Onesuch got us damn near up to Long Lake ere the snowpack still existant brought us to a halt; about 2000' ABOVE the road bed just down from the Salmon Glacier overlook...which we DID SUMMIT just days ago on Wheelers. I have never seen a Human being SO STOKED UP.

Last week we spent $450 on groceries for the week. We are a household of 8. It is insane. We are frugal shoppers. I shop only sales and at 3 different stores. We used to be treading water. Now we are drowning.
I'm a manufacturing manager supplying the mining industry. Crushed stone production, used for roads, residential and commercial construction, dropped almost 5% in Q1 compared to Q1 2023. We're all wondering where the "infrastructure" bill funding disappeared to. This wasn't supposed to happen. We were going to "Build Back Better" if I recall correctly. We are seeing a slow motion train wreck. These things aren't being reported by the main stream media but they have to be aware of what is going on.
And how about adding car insurance, house insurance, electricity, heating, property tax increases, etc. I’m living on credit cards. I’m afraid of our personal future and children’s future. And this does NOT include ww3 fears!
We are now rolling bills from month to month. We had to reduce our car insurance to liability only (our cars are paid for) and that is still over $200 a month. Our electricity: over $300. My husband works from home with variable hours. It’s a nightmare. We pay $900 a month for health insurance. I spend my days figuring what we can live without and spend my nights praying for God to get us through. I am between jobs and don’t start my new one until August! God help us.

I do a little trading in stuff, mainly hobby items. I don’t make money doing it, probably have lost a slight amount of money over the years. I do it to get rid of things I’m not using and make room for new stuff. Lately, it has become impossible to get rid of things at anywhere close to what I paid, even for unused items. I’m getting out of it now, because the market has fallen completely out of it. People don’t pay for anything that isn’t essential now. I went to the grocery over the weekend, bought some stuff for dinner and a couple of household items. Walked out sixty dollars lighter and none of it was anything extravagant. People need to go pick up a book or two on what happens when things turn bad in formerly comfortable societies. It isn’t pretty, and we’re about there.

However, IF the parent - synonymous with a DRIVING FORCE - continues to be applied then the swing grows wider and wider, higher and higher.
AT SOME POINT a critical threshold is reached and instead of regular, periodic motion the arc of the SWING grows great enough that the Child on the Seat rises SO HIGH that the swing abruptly changes it's character completely.
Specifically, said Child's 'swing' rises up beyond 90 degrees from the vertical. Beyond that point IF the arc RISES any HIGHER at all, the system - child, parent, SWING - becomes ABRUPTLY Chaotic.

The Pundits are mystified but ASSURE everyone that Trading tomorrow will resume and everything WILL 'Be coming UP Roses' by tomorrow Afternoon once the Exchanges reopen.
The following day those do indeed open and by noon ANOTHER 10% LOSS is realized, and again the Echanges Suspend Trading, TEMPORARILY. TWO hours later those reopen and ANOTHER 10% LOSS occurs much FASTER than had the previous episodes. The Exchanges ATTEMPT to blame the curious anomaly on Software Issues and declare a 'Transient Suspension' of Trading for at LEAST 24 HOURS.
This is the CUSP of when things begin to go VERY WRONG INDEED...
The MAJORS - Such as Citi, BoA, Wells-Fargo, JP Morgan and Goldman-Sacks ALL convene Emergency Board meetings that Evening, preparing for the 'inevitable': An Inevitability ENGINEERED by those and BY THOSE ABOVE THEM.

Yup, McCarthy was a fine place...except for one lil bitty thing: Ancient Lake Ahtna. That covered a HUGE area including Chitina, MaCarthy and much of the southeast - excluding the IP - at the end of the last Ice Age. As a consequence, the Ahtna Indians referred to the vicinity around McCarth as "The HUNGRY Land", why?
If any large area is - in fact - covered by a large body of water for a very long time, then there exist a period measured in several THOUSANDS of years afterwards in which the local biota must re-develop an entire Eco-System...from the GROUND UP, literally.
So too, McC was similarly 'retarded' in it normal bio-cycles...until the Copper River choke point at Chitina 'Blew Out' via 'Wood's Canyon' and subsequently DRAINED the entire basin.
Hyder is WAY 'better' than all that WAS. We have a Super-Abundance of Dungeoness Crab, PRAWN of a size that is not to be believed (think here of a FOOT long or longer still!), Halibut abundantly and LACK only Moose...since the Snowfall here is truly EXTREME every so often and the local Wolf population simply decimates any attempting to Winter here.
But, if my surmize/interpretation of you reply IS correct, then you are VERY Likely already aware of ALL that I specified above, eh?
If instead I erred in my interpretaion then you have above a bit more insight into this vicinity...
Aa an anecdote here...
My Best Friend ON EARTH just came into town specifically to assess all that I had communicated to him about THIS PLACE and as well compare the many, many pix I had forwarded along to him, possibly beleiving that I was exaggerating matters somewhat...
His response upon EXPERIENCING this place was simply;
"OMG...J, you utterly UNDERSTATED WHAT this place actually IS." FWIW, I have not seen him so animated in 7 YEARS; he was like the 'Energizer Bunny' wanting to SEE EVERYTHING.
Turns out he's INCREDIBLY talented at discerning 'trails' hereabouts that I had never noted. Onesuch got us damn near up to Long Lake ere the snowpack still existant brought us to a halt; about 2000' ABOVE the road bed just down from the Salmon Glacier overlook...which we DID SUMMIT just days ago on Wheelers. I have never seen a Human being SO STOKED UP.
By all means, should you elect to reply I will be delighted - either way - since the sole other explanation is that you ARE an Alaskan.

I enjoy reading your posted musings, but would prefer to hear them in person, face to face, as your friends do. Delta Junction is directly familiar to me inasmuch as an Army Major (O-4) of my close acquaintance was stationed at the THAAD Battery up there and I visited him every now and then. DJ is MUCH 'nicer' IMHO than is Fairbanks, FWIW.
So, how is the weather down in your vicinity Sir? I ASK as I am seeing an unusual series of 'excessively violent and or UNUSUAL Meteorilogical activity' of late and that has piqued my curiousity.
I am gladdened that you ARE a dutiful man John; such is become itself UNUSUAL these days certainly. Do you now call Prescott Home...or are you still - in Heart - a 'Northern Lights' individual?
Should it EVER transpire that you are en route BACK to the North, feel free to divert up the Stewart-Cassiar Hwy (CA-37) starting at Kitwanga BC, about umm, say 8 plus hours out of Prince George, en route to Terrace BC...but turning thereat BEFORE actually GETTING to Terrace.

I too spent MUCH time being shuttled back and firth over the Atlantic in my Army Career and also became 'passably' accustomed thereto.
Only in the last several years - after a REAL NDE (Near Death Experience) - did I finally become - as the Prodigal Son - RESTORED to My Father's Graces. In all time since - ONLY AFTER I HUMBLED myself before HIM - did His Blessings TURN from Chastisement (which I FULLY DESERVED!) into those shich we woilf otherwise regard as the BLESSINGS of a Loving Fathet.
I was - and AM - so completely unworthy to be so treated my Brother, SO LOVED: My Mind cannot GRASP how that can be...for I am -STILL! - frequently ASHAMED of myself in His Sight.
I think that SURELY - when next you DO retutn 'this way' that we both would be WELL-SERVED to si face to face and chat...at LENGTH!

FWIW, head for Prince George, BC and thereafter head towards Terrace, BC. Along the way you'll pass through Smithers, then New Hazelton. At that point - on the righthand side of the road you'll presently see roadsignage indicating your approach to CA-37, right at Kitwanga, BC...turn onto that, and cross over the Skeena River heading up to Meziadin Junction - adjacent to Meziadin Lake. Upon reaching that - a "T" in the road - simply turn left and yoi're about 40 miles out of Stewart at that point...
Naturally, I'd forward my Cell Number such that as you pulled into Stewart and GOT Cell Ssrvice back you could call and then come right on over...

It's the higher cost of meats that send me flipping. No way will I ever buy into the veggie scene or the endless fast food nonsense.
If you really want to know the truth, I spent about $150 for prime rib steak and shrimp in a grocery store for my family of four. I like to have a nice dinner on Sunday night. Now, while it does sound quite expensive, it really didn't hurt me, as I am a plumber on Long Island, New York. I'm sorry if that sounds condescending, but my goal here was to spread truth.

The foregoing 'cryptic' comment is explained thusly: Hereabouts 'we' - Hyder, AK and our 'Sister City' Stewart, BC, sit EXACTLY at the HEAD of the 97 mile long 'Portland Canal'...which in reality is actually s Fjord. That is a true Salt-Water estuary originating from off the Gulf of Alaska.
The Sea-Life contained in THAT is astonishing, REALLY.
Dungeoness Crab in quantities beyond belief and Prawn also; that latter being Shrimp over a FOOT LONG...really. I would include a pic thereof but NOTHING here at the 'Stack 'appears' to permit doing so; durn the luck...
Every so often one simply needs to recognize that REGARDLESS of 'how things are GOING', WE ALL need a TREAT to remind us of the GOOD in Life...which after THE RECKONING WILL improve beyond MEASURE. Amen!
