Haha! Imagine that! Unwary consumer buys or rents "smart" car and it takes him down the "highway to hell ".

One job I do is driving for a major airport car rental hub, we drive brand new cars on & off-lot all day long. Boss talked in today's morning meeting how people here in the midwest don't want electric cars, there's many on the lot that just sit--they're not earning anything! They have ALL the fancy features but it sucks the battery dead--especially in very hot or cold weather!

If he brings it up again tomorrow I'll mention this article Michael!

Every car as Michael noted have this (on star) like system. Even if you don't buy the service the car has the hardware inside. As a cop for 25 years we were able to get probable cause warrants to turn on these systems and monitor what was going on in the car and no one in the car knew the system was activated. We even had suspects that had fled in a specific car and with a warrant were able to track that car via the same system and when the car parked at a hotel, we directed the local police to the exact parking space and make arrests (child abductions and rape cases).

This is just a taste of what is to come in the totally digital life that is now coming.

Look we should not fear this or fight this, because we can't.

This is all part of what God has ordained for the world and the persecution of the saints.

Literally, not being able to buy or sell anything will really boil down to not to be able to do "anything" to live with out being part of this system of total control.

Rev 13 clearly talks about the full authority given to the beast by God Himself to subdue all the earth and everyone on it and to persecute the saints. This is all coming ordained by Christ. Just a Christ was destined for the cross, we are destined to be hated and suffer persecution. And we are to handle it as Christ demonstrated for us 1 Peter 2:21-25.

For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth; and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.

Can we follow Christ or make Job's mistake of bitching and moaning about hard times to come.

This was planned in the 90's. While in college this was part of a class, when we were learning about OBD 2. I guess us old people will have to teach the younger generation hand signals. Not that kind!

Waiting for a politician's sexcapades to make it on the news, and then we'll see how far this in-car monitoring goes.

Next item to get for yourself, microphone detection equipment for your own car, or when you get into someone else's car.

And if you didn't volunteer to give this away when you buy the car - scratch it out, and the dealer doesn't notice, are they up for a lawsuit? Can they rip that component out?

And how is the purchaser (who MAY NOT be the driver) able to violate MY privacy.

I forsee a cottage industry in mic/monitoring disabling/removal. They do it for high level government employees and their laptops - microphones and cameras physically disabled.

Expand full comment

microphone detectors won't work because the system is completely turned off when not in use. The microphone detectors only work on (hot mics) where it's actively working. The system is designed to protect against detection.

And this system is hard wired into the main computer brain of the car you can't disable or remove it without disabling the car itself.

In fact via this system they can shut down the car at any time.

Law suit really? If you buy any car you are agreeing to buy the car as is. You have no grounds for a law suit. Walk or get a horse and buggy.

There's SOMETHING that is gathering the input, microphone, camera, etc. One can always clip it, right? That's what the government does for equipment in highly sensitive areas.

And I was referring to the contract you sign when you purchase a car. If you do not agree to a part of the contract (monitoring, etc) remove it. See if they agree to it. Or be willing to walk.

What recourse does a second buyer get (used car market)?

then they wont sell you the car, because the monitoring capability is part of the central computer, they just can't take it out.

Look Justin there is no way out of this, either get a 1980's model car or walk.

It's like the coming destruction of the dollar as the world currency to be replaced by another currency, that will cause the value of everything to plummet just like in 1929 only much worse and there is nothing you and I can do to stop it. It's like nature things die, so will this and the aftermath will far more horrific than you can imagine.

I hear what you're saying. As for what I'm doing, I've got a garden planted. I have a number of books that deal with medicinal uses of herbs, some seeds (need more), a whole lifetime of DIY skills I've picked up to repair my (fairly old) vehicles, etc. I have some food/water storage, and hopefully enough tools to be able to sustain my family. More is needed of course, but that's what I'm doing. I read in the Book of Revelations (fwiw) and there's a separation that is asked of the saints, not not be a part of the church of the devil (evil, chaos, control). At some point, I see us having to make the decision. And it appears it will cost us. Possibly dearly. But I keep fighting back in the small ways I can - primarily educating others as to the crap that's going on, and hopefully they will share the info as well. (not just prepper stuff, but pointing people to information NOT being shown to them in mainstream media outlets, and presenting it in a way so as to hopefully engage their brain cells and connect a few dots.)

As for the central computer, two things. By trying to cross that part out and having it be accepted, the hope is that it opens the manufacturers up to legal litigation. The other is... you can STILL take out the microphones and cameras themselves, unless we WANT the convenience tied to them - hands free driving or in-car chatting with video, etc.

Privacy/security comes at a cost, and it's often at the cost of convenience.

Your pretty much where I am as well,

But this will not open the car makers up to litigation, that's not how the court's work.

I've been a cop for over 25 years.

It's there car they can put into it whatever they want, if you don't like it, walk!

The supreme court has already ruled the right to privacy is not absolute as with all our rights.

You can't yes fire in a crowded theater that's not free speech.

Driving a car is not covered. You and the car need to be licensed and you must have insurance. This is another add on. The courts will not hear it. If you don't like you do have the freedom to move about the country but you will need to walk ride a bike (with some real restrictions as well) or get a horse and buggy and they have real restrictions as well.

They have the whole system geared for this under guise of safety and the courts accept that.

It's actually classified as a safety feature to get you help quickly to save lives in case of an accident. Just like seat belts. try fighting a seat belt ticket to the supreme court. LOL. ;-)

No it's completely off until turned, on it was designed for that purpose in mind. It only gives out or collects that data only when turned on like a slash light. The only power is always on because its the power that drives the central computer that it is hard wired into.

I was contemplating buying a new car this year, but maybe I'll keep nursing my 18 year old Mountaineer. I have heard enough horror stories about EV's that I won't get one.

I find AI creepy and downright dangerous. I refuse to use a smart speaker, but I'm not naive enough to believe that someone's not listening. Just wait until the Chinese perfect their thought reading software. Then we're really in for some fun!

As I always say, just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. I believe we need a committee of super smart people to oversee some of our technological advances and keep us from destroying ourselves. I suppose that's too much to hope for. I guess I'll have to settle for a time machine, so whoever is left can come back and try to stop us.

Good Alanna! This all started in the early to mid 90's. So anything pre 1990 will be safe,

but don't have your cell phone with you because they can do the same with most modern cell phones.

So many people refuse to believe what folks like Edward Snowden have been revealing for decades.

But then, so many people are enthusiastic to post any and all of their stupid life details and selfies or whatever on any social media site that will accept them, so what's the difference? Volunteered or not, it's the same personal info.

I have serious concerns regarding my health info with these ridiculous electronic chart programs or apps that countless people have access to, even prior to them getting hacked by the CCP, NSA, or whomever. May as well post my health records on a public billboard somewhere.

Onward, Christian soldiers!
