If fact, I'd say this pretty much guarantees that Hezbollah is planning to join the war. Our gov't seems to be taxed to the limit just figuring out what day it is. By the way, a population of 8 billion cannot be supported without fossil fuels, nitrogen based fertilizer, etc. They say that fossil fuels etc. are destroying the earth. Our gov'is, and has for decades, been willfully ignorant about Islam, and it's intentions; that was not always true. Until the md-'60s they were not even permitted entry to the US. for immigration purposes. Back in the late 1700's and early 1800's, our fledgling nation was plagued by Muslim piracy of our shipping to and from Europe, and kidnapping for ransom of their crews. Jefferson, fed up with their tactics, and in full understanding of the ideology driving them, sent our Marines "to the shores of Tripoli" (Libya), then the main headquarters of the pirates attacking our shipping, to "explain" to their leaders just why that was unacceptable behavior, and must stop. It was this incursion that earned the Marines the nickname "leathernecks" for the thick, stiff leather neck protection they wore against beheading efforts in battle with the Muslims. The lesson "took" 'til the late 1960s, when they shifted to skyjacking US owned airliners, and passengers for ransom again, probably emboldened by the weaker stance from our gov't on them.
Perceived weakness (tolerance) is like catnip to them; makes them a bit crazy and aggressive, or a few drops of blood in their waters to sharks... I'm sure you get the picture.... I know of no other religious ideology that calls upon its adherents to slaughter savagely all who are non-believers (which is not to say humans have not behaved that way, on their own volution, but without such a call from the ideology itself). Islam does that specifically, many times throughout their scrptures, quite graphically. In other words, they're "practicing their religion" when they attack others, whether terrorism jihad, piracy and kidnapping for ransom or killing, or demanding others comply with their practices and beliefs, or raping non- believers girls and women...
There is a lot of theology out there about when the Gog and Magog war will happen and what it look like as events lead to it. But it looks like God may show us soon. Thus we need to watch and pray and reality blow up our theology. We shall see.

As long as the US is a world power, bringing carriers halfway across the world, there will be no start of the Apocalypse. Just think if Iran had nuclear weapons. I don't think the US administration would be so quick to say that there is no daylight between Israel and the US. That is why Iran is working on nuclear weapons. That is why the US cannot stand innocently by as Iran is violating their agreements on the use of nuclear fuel creation.
