The declining sperm counts is a valuable story; the laboratory-made sperm and egg cells is a valuable story. They seem very related, since the latter story would seemingly stand to fix the former story's problem.
I dare say with the earth going kaput as it is, along with Artificial Intelligence taking over paying jobs, we should welcome a lower and lower birth rate. Everyone's predicting that the world will be almost unsustainable in 30 - 40 years. I wouldn't want today's children to suffer the fate that we're leaving them with. Why would anyone want to see them suffer?

I am envisioning a "Handmaid's Tale" version where men with high sperm counts are forced to impregnate wealthy women while their husbands watch.
