Every religion, past and present, has used eclipses to explain or propagate their own belief systems, gods and myths as well as an almost universal belief they are harbingers of evil, doom or judgement or even hope and renewal. This comes out of the rhythmical predictable motion of the sun moon, planet and stars, it's called pagan astrology. Every Biblical sign in the heavens both Old and New Testaments, were one time events and were and will be truly supernatural and unique. But the belief these rhythmical predictable events are harbingers of judgement comes from ancient religions, astrology and from occult groups like the Freemasons, not scripture. This is a subtle but also huge and critical difference.
Even the word occult actually means to hide or to eclipse. The occult see this event as a unification of good and evil, creating a new blended energy for new ideas, this is huge for them. Most all the ancient occult pagan religions tracked the planets, stars and eclipses. They worshiped them because they foretold the future! This is how the gods spoke to them. Their gods were the gods of nature or nature's gods not the God of the supernatural.
So eclipses are actually ecumenical events that every one will use to verify their own belief systems. Something everyone will use to justify to do what is right in their own eyes and justify whatever they believe.

Astronomy only started to emerge from astrology in the 1700s where astrology was all about ones life and future being effected or foretold by the rhythmical and predictable motion and positions of the planets, sun moon and stars. Religion was about reading and manipulating these events of nature.
Astrology is a form of divination is expressly forbidden in Scripture (Deuteronomy 18:10-14). Are we to look to the sky in predictable celestial cycles to predict human events as in astrology or are we to look to God's clear and prophetic Word alone and the clear celestial supernatural events already predicted in the Bible, in the past and to come and why is that not enough? In Matt 24 Jesus told us what to look for and there were no celestial events, but events on the earth. "when you see these things (happening on the earth) then you will know." In fact the only celestial event we need to look to, Jesus said, is to look for His second coming and Him taking us home. (another unique celestial event).
Jesus told a parable of the rich man and Lazarus. The rich man in hell, wants Lazarus to be raised from the dead to warn his 5 brothers of impending doom judgement and destruction. And what was Lazarus told? Have your brothers watch the next eclipse and get a Jesus moment? No! He was told, they have "Moses and the Prophets, let them listen to them...." ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’ Now we have the New Testament, the power of the Gospel and the conviction of the Holy Spirit and the power of the resurrection and God's already written prophetic Word are not enough to convince the world of Sin and get America to repent? So does God have to resort to this? Granted there will be terrible signs in the last days but they will be special and different and unique and they are already spelled out clearly in scripture to read and look for. Don't look up read your Bible, pray for wisdom and discernment!
The Gospel is about God convicting the world of sin for all of us. We see the eclipse and we think, "they are the bad guys this eclipse is for not me I'm a good person, it's for them, the NWO guys they are evil I'm not.
What we want the eclipse to do is what we should be doing in actions words and attitudes via the Holy Spirit and that is convict the world of sin. Salvation comes from hearing the world of God with conviction of the Holy Spirit and lives that even the pagans will praise God for, not from watching and eclipse that anyone can just read anything into.
