Yes, it was a great time - the Jesus Revolution had begun and I was a new Christian - the world was new to me! Now at my advanced age 78, I look forward to the new life I will have when I meet him in the air or pass away here. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING LORD, AND THANKS FOR ALL THAT IS AHEAD ~ i HAVE NEVER SAID THAT LAST PART BEFORE - HIS MERCIES NEVER END!
If I could go back to 1973? i would do it in a heartbeat. I graduated HS in 1972 and started working just after that in a job that became my career for 50+ years. By 1975 I owned my own business, the first of several. I bought a brand new Chevy 3/4 ton truck for $5000. I was married in 1976 and our first rent was $90 a month and my grocery budget was $25 a week. And ate way better than I can today! Yes we made less but our money bought us more. WAY more! We were able to save money and bought our first home in 1977, a 5 acre place in the country with a nice remolded farmhouse for $40,000. Honestly, how many youth today can say they can accomplish this 5 years out of HS. Own a home? Own a business? Even have a job? Any? doubt it. My business was pet care, mostly at that time grooming later boarding, veterinarian and rescue. My first job, grooming a small poodle I got paid 60% of the price of $7.00. When I tell this to my groomers today that charge $45+ for he same job, they can't believe it. What they also can't understand was what it cost to live then. They just don't have a clue just who was better off. My $5000 vehicle or their $45,000 one. My $40,000 home or their $300,000 one. I would go back to the 1973 world in a heartbeat. I've seen both sides.
