I went to a big grocery store about 15 miles from my house yesterday and was so relieved to get home unscathed. I think that it's part of a reaction to the financial stress - almost like they don't care if they live or die.

I realized on my way home from work that since my morning commute (less than 12 hours earlier) the price of gas locally has gone up 35 cents and this is spreading across the city right now.
