Wouldn't you say that getting a side hustle is working for someone else even more? How about starting a side hustle that is also working for yourself? (Ebay anyone?)

All excellent bullet points, but don’t put too much faith in gold or silver. If SHTF and food is hard to find, no way am I going to give you my last can of peaches even for a bucket of gold.

Water can be purified ..many ways.. do it now with all water.. its not that clean. Self employed take discipline and focus to make money. Talk with your friends and neighbors to find more ways for sustainable lives. Sometimes it takes a village. And in emergencies, they are your best hope. Don't expect any governing agency to help. Been there and they do not. Its those who live close...

There's a Chinese proverb that I really like. To start a thousand mile journey you've got to take the 1st steps.

Or when one looks at the steps that Michael has outlined in this article it can be very overwhelming.

But it's being aware that to eat a elephant we can only do it one bite at a time.

It's not easy making choices that have a cost involved.

But we have to be like Noah who built the ark in partnership with God. Because it's never going to work if we chose to build our own ark in our own strength after the rain has started.

So everything I've just written above people who are reading this might be saying what do you know?

But the truth is me & my wife have chosen to implement most of the things on the list that Michael has outlined in this article.

And no we didn't have a bucket of money to begin with.

We have stepped out in faith & partnershipped with God choosing to step out of our boat when the Lord has called us to.

It hasn't been easy & there has been a personal cost involved but in the end the way I look at it.

We can either play it safe & do nothing & eventually get run over by the steamroller that is most assuredly coming.

Or we can step out of our comfort zone partnership with God & undergo a little short term pain.

So that we can have choices & live as free as we possibly can.

And from my own experience I can testify that option 2 is a better option but I it get it that it isn't for everyone.

Good advice, but for the average urban dweller, not achieveable.

Some good steps to achieve self sufficiency and responsibility. Don't be dependent on the government, it is looking only to control you and make you subservient.

Well done you 👏👏. You obviously deserve it, being a retired nurse. Long hours and hard work. Now you're getting to live out a rewarding role caring for yourself and your family.
