Trump has always tried to negotiate peaceful solutions whenever possible. He does not want to harm the Iranian people.

Iran may agree to give up their nuclear ambitions, and they may agree to allow free traffic flow through the Strait of Hormuz. However, that agreement is basically useless. The Muslim 'holy' book, Quran, tells Muslims that lying is permissible to achieve their jihad goals. On our end, the Muslims will have to agree to give up control and governance. This will never happen. So, we may get a two week ceasefire, but that's it. Then, it will back to war.
Some of the ceasefire provisions include the U.S. agreeing not to attack Iran again and lifting all sanctions on Iranian oil, including those that were put in place by George W. Bush's administration. Come on.

Just because POTUS doesn't want to be part of a forever war doesn't mean that that part of the world won't continue to have one. This looks an awful lot like the tar baby problem to me.
