People are mostly clueless about what goes on in the world. My first encounter with third world conditions happened 35 years ago in South America. I was so shocked by what I saw I felt ashamed by the callousness and indifference we as Americans have towards the rest of the world. We were still part of the middle class but we were living in extreme luxury compared to the people I encountered while on a two week visit. The average person endured what we would consider extreme hardship and privation without complaint. One huge difference was that family came first before anything else.
The people of each nation create their own situations, America doesn't cause them the death, destruction , oppression. Venezuela was a prosperous nation, then they literally voted in communism, that's on them. Iran revolted in 1979 because they decided they wanted sharia law and had grown weary of the shah, thus, they brought it on themselves. Same with cuba, same with every suffering nation. You will see the same thing happen here if we don't start rounding up the islamists and communists and removing them from this nation. I have literally witnessed people being filmed in communist nations eating our of garbage cans and still extolling the virtues of communism , the very cause of their suffering. When a nation of people are ready to fight for freedom, then and only then should the US get involved.
Quit believing the Trump administration on Venezuela. Venezuela was prosperous in 1970s/1980s but the fall on oil created a disaster in the 1990s which led to Chavez being elected in 1999. Over the next ten years Venezuela actually had the largest GDP in its history which coincided with $100 oil. Subsequent US sanctions and the fall in oil prices destroyed their economy. So if socialism was so bad why were the 2000s good and if capitalism was so great why were the 1990s so bad?
Yet, Tucker Carlson and his followers preach that the US should just focus on internal issues and leave the rest of the world to burn! Had France done that during the American Revolution, we would not have had a Republic right now! Some food for thought...
We need to be very careful mucking around in the affairs of the middle east magdiel , we have never made things better but many Americans lost their lives there. The reason whatever we do backfires is because too many refuse to acknowledge that the vast majority of suffering in the middle east is caused by islam , even when the islamists aren't running the nation.
