Jesus makes this crystal clear in his parable of the "Rich Fool." In Luke 12:13-21, Jesus tells a story to instruct us to be rich toward God, not in those things that will perish.
He instructs us in verse 14 to "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions."
That's a severe warning from King Jesus.
Are you accumulating an abundance of possessions for your kids, your retirement, or your future security? I hope not, because it is a fool's errand. It is futile. It is vanity. All is vanity. The Hebrew word for "vanity" conveys a lack of substance, permanence, or lasting value, suggesting that human pursuits, possessions, and achievements are ultimately meaningless if they don't find their purpose in a divine, eternal context.
After Jesus's warning to watch out, He goes on to tell the story of the Rich Fool who tore down his barn to build a bigger one to store all of his abundant harvest. Satisfied with having constructed his new barn and having stored all his surplus grain, he declares in verse 19, "And I'll say to myself, 'You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy, eat, drink, and be merry.'"
But what did God say? In verse 20, He said to him, "You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?"
Finally, Jesus sums it all up in verse 21: "This is how it will be with whoever stores up things for themselves but is not rich toward God."
"Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him".

The verse draws upon Isaiah 64, highlighting that YHVH/God is in preparation for those believers in Yeshua, who are patiently waiting for the King of kings to bring forth the 1,000 year Kingdom of Heaven. These Divine preparations are beyond what has been seen or heard by man since the beginning of the world.
