Las Vegas is the most pointless thing in human existence. It would be no great loss if it simply were abandoned and left to the birds, snakes, and mutants left over from all those nuclear tests.

They do have some great car museums.

Other than Pet Rocks and Pee Wee Herman I would agree with you. When you drill it down our whole existence is artificial.

Just watch the housing market. It is the key driver in any economy, in any year, in any industrialized country. When housing tanks, everything else tanks also.

I am not an economist or a meteorologist, so I won't predict where the economy is going. We know it is not in great shape. According to the Trump administration, the economy is rapidly improving. The effects, good and bad, of the economy do not happen overnight. When things get tough, it may takes weeks before it's felt by the average Joe. Likewise, when things are looking up, it takes awhile before the benefits are felt. I'm not sure I would judge the state of the economy based on gambling. I have never been to Vegas, and have not desire to go, mostly because I don't care to gamble or stuff my face at buffets. As for the housing industry, I live in a southern (red) state and there doesn't seem to be a problem with people buying houses. There are plenty of pre-owned houses for sale in my area. Prices are remaining high, and time on the market has not increased a lot. As to new homes, there are plenty being built. Not a few here and there, but subdivisions being built like crazy. It doesn't seem like there is hesitancy from the developers and builders. Of course, we are "benefitting" from many people moving here to escape the hell of blue states. Cities (blue) are dying (much to the chagrin of Blackstone, BlackRock and the WEF). Suburbs, and even rural areas, are seeing growth, especially in Red States. So, what I am seeing doesn't jive with what you are reporting. I would give it a few more months before you mourn the economy.

In economics, they economy of Las Vegas thrives on what is called discretionary spending. In other words, mad money I can spend and not go belly up. When this discretionary spending dries up it is a real sign peoples pocket books are getting very tight. It's not a good sign. Trump can do all that he can, but it won't be enough and there is not enough time. The FED and the BIS will determine when it's time to dump the dollar, they have a plan and what they are doing now is to lay the groundwork for that dump. They are looking to blame a nation like Russia or China or an event (nuclear) or a person like Trump, to blame the collapse on. No one knows when this will happen, even the globalists. It will be a decision made on the spot, so there is no paper trail, no lose ends.

I live in a southern red state also and everything is terrible here. Just as Michael is reporting.

Kelly, Sorry that the economy is not well where you live. The big problem with the economy is not the economy. Confused? What I mean is that the economy would be doing okay if it wasn't being meddled with. The Fed and their banker buddies are mostly to blame. The economy would likely be fine if left alone. The free market tends to be good if the market is allowed to be the market.

Give it a few months and see who is moving into those subdivisions being "built like crazy". Then come back here and tell us it's all so "benefitting".

As I said, I'm not making any predictions on the economy. There are loads of crystal ball folks out there that have been making predictions for last few years. They say the economy is going to crash, as is the stock market. We are going to have a recession or a depression. The dollar is going to collapse. None of it has happened yet. So, I'm here giving it a few more months and maybe a few more after that.

South Carolina. I don't like the unbridled growth, but it's great for the economy. Problem with the growth-- need for more infrastructure, schools, police, fire-- it will cause taxes to go up.

An interesting reflection by comparing today's economy with the GWB/Obama "great recession" of 2008-2009.

FYI: It is my posit there never was a recovery from the "great recession"; and any new growth in national GDP claimed by the federal government was only the "mirage of monetarism". [Think Milton Friedman.] My minority opinion is based upon the premise that with the federal government's deficit-to-GDP currently @>7%; the 7% federal deficit cannot be factored as real growth, in that real GDP growth is paid for by equity and not government debt, that is rolled over annually. My perception of deficit spending is that we are consuming future GDP, while transferring payment of our present consumption to our grandchildren.

As of July 25, 2025, Second Quarter 2025 (GDP Projected): The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta's GDP model estimates a real GDP growth rate of 2.4 percent (seasonally adjusted annual rate) for the second quarter of 2025. Therefore using my theory: With a 2.4% GDP growth- and a 7% of GDP deficit, the economy is actually in a deep recession of -4.6%. While the only reason there hasn't been a complete economic collapse is by Congress adding these deficits annually to the national debt. By the end of FY 2008, the gross national debt had reached $10.3 trillion. Today the federal debt exceeds $37 trillion.

Therefore, by using my metrics the economy has actually been in a recession since GWB/Obama and TARP and has been spackled over with $27 trillion in national debt.

A nation in decay....The Lord had me travel all over this nation in the past decade or so.

As a widowed friend who is traveling with her daughter for summer said, America is like a ghetto anymore.

Sadly, I remember using the same harsh language traversing dozens of states. Crime grade.org I believe is the site - had Arizona, as a state, rated F. Haven't checked it in a while. That's a horrific sign.

Vegas? Not far behind.

🥺

Vegas is way more corporate than it was 20 years ago. Everything is nickel and dined now. A lot of the hotels seemed dated and worn too.

We went last summer, but I doubt we will go back anytime soon.

It was still fun, but even basic things were expensive. You expect an up charge in tourist areas, but geez - $10 for a slice of pizza and nowhere to sit. It was pretty ridiculous at times.

We heard from our Uber driver that some of the big events that they tried to bring in failed because hotel prices were just ridiculously high during the event and they didn’t get the numbers they were expecting.

The only people enjoying Vegas these days are people who aren’t cost-conscious.

The outstanding growth and construction development that ensued there following the 2020 national exodus, coupled with the crushing cost of this inflated housing market alone, is bound to make Vegas a literal ghost town.

Any natural calamity like earthquake or a tsunami of floods could crush this house of cards.

Pray these folks figure it out beforehand. No one ever wants to leave the comfort of their homes - sometimes it makes more sense to cut your losses.

Thanks, Mr. S! It's not difficult to easily perceive the parallels to 2008,2009, but your reflection back to the 90s is definitely more ominous. 😬

Vegas has been a place of discretionary spending for the middle class and above. The fact that it is now suffering. Is spot on as a sign for not good things to come

Yep Trump continues to bring disaster to the United States.
