People don’t want to believe that this “crisis” has long been in the works to bring about the New World Order by the elites who ultimately are controlled by the Jesuits. Roman Catholic Church as it were. We’re watching prophecy unfold. Pope Francis who was a Jesuit pope, is receiving accolades from satan in hell as we speak for his part in normalizing abominations in the world. I have no hope in men. Whatever Trumps role in this is, his plan has been to purposely crash the market. I recently viewed a talk with Porter Stansberry and an advisor to Trump who visited MarALargo together to meet with Trump who said very clearly it was to happen. That he knew he’d be torn apart for it, but it was the only way to get away from China and “reset”. Which some have attributed to the NWO. “Great Reset”. Whatever the case, Trump has been bent on this happening for a very long time. He wanted to get it done at the beginning of this term in hopes there’s enough time to turn it around enough before the next election and see Vance proceed. This is so the country could witness the necessary crash to build the country back. Where it all fits prophetically, only God knows! We can guess, but…..it’s going to get very ugly either way and personally, I think we’re at the end. We’re going to see!
Boy, you Christian fundamentalists are no different than the Taliban: who care who is hurt, let the work of MY god be done. Go, destroy America, turn it into a new Middle East, just don’t drag the rest of the world into chaos with your nonsense.
I have an electric bike, it was made in China, after 2500 miles I had a flat, so I replaced the tires and tubes and they were made in China. The bike (Heminway) was made in China, I paid $1600 and just recently I saw the prices are $899-$999. Order them while you can. During Covid there was a lot of can goods missing off the shelf from panic buyers and I read that the cans are made in China and were stopped until the crud was over, so no cans from China means no food is getting packed. I do not know if that has changed or not. I would like to see people post of things we should buying before they're gone.
I was all on board for international trade, and all that went with being a citizen of the world to where I graduated with an MS in international business. But I was also an Army reservist and patriot doing over seas deployments where once I was out among the natives in a peace keeping mission. During that particular time I saw a lot of the dark side of international trade where a corrupt government allowed their country to become dependent on global businesses leading to a failed state when they pulled out for greener pastures. So later when the chair of the department said, and I'll never forget - that in order for International trade to succeed, you have to sacrifice national sovereignty it hit me like a ton of bricks. A country that focuses on its own localized economic health and citizens needs and wants has a more content populace and full spectrum commercial/industrial base. The cost of goods may increase, but more employed and higher wages compensate for higher quality nationally-made goods
Isn't this the Cassandra-like hysteria we heard from elite "experts" during COVID? Were we not warned of exactly these consequences as a result of lockdowns? I know the press pivoted on that story as soon as Stinky Joe entered the White House, so I don't believe this for one second. But I wish it were true. Can't you see the benefit of our pudgy helpless modern man forced to figure shit out on his own? Afghans learned to keep their modern Ford pickups running using fabricated or repurposed parts. Maybe Americans can figure it out, too, or even better, walk everywhere they need to go. The benefits in physical health and reduction in obesity would be worth the hassle.
We keep hearing that we’re trading with China and how we should never have started trading with China … but … American corporations chose to manufacture their products in China and much of what we buy from China comes from those factories … where American corporations are making huge profits on reduced labor costs … so it is surprising that we continue to blame China when Apple etc etc etc are making huge profits on iPhones etc that are manufactured or assembled in China … so we ought to be going after American corporations to stop doing business in China … instead of simply blaming China … and starting a ridiculous and disastrous trade war …
NAFTA is why we are here! The Gipper....hinted at the idea, but decided against it. Bush1 talked about it, but knew what it would do to the already hollowed out manufacturing industry....so he didn't hit that button. Not Billary Clinton! Signed our manufacturing away so that we could have a WalMart every 10 miles (in each direction) selling cheap clothes and plastic crap.....we got faux Caviar wishes and cheap champaign dreams and the wealthy got wealthier! But guess what?....Our air quality got better! Meanwhile, China fired up the factories, abused their workers and lived (they still do) in an orange haze of smog and other particulate matter (they wear masks all the time!).
Long term satisfaction is of more value than short term gratification. Too many are willing to sacrifice their children and their children’s children for their own selfish desires
What happens if China doesn't want to "reach" a trade agreement with Trump? What happens if China won't accept dollars for their products going forward? What happens if China demands gold as payment for their products? And what happens when Fort Knox is audited and they discover only gold plated tungsten bars there?
Oh wait! That right, there is no gold there which is why they won't allow an audit to take place.
I think our government grifters (aka politicians), banker buddies and cronies, have long since stolen the gold. They are nothing but greedy theives who preach righteousness, but possess none themselves.
In a trade war the exporting nation holds leverage over the importing nation. China has other markets it can pursue with its exports. Only 12% of China's exports are shipped to America. 60% of America's imports are from China.
China is not the one who's going to experience empty store shelves and the ensuing social unrest that results. Who do you think suffers the most economic harm in this scenario?
I guess you’ll have to find other sources or heaven forfend, mine and build the shit yourselves, Mr missed the point. How many dollars are China already holding and how many assets do they own in America? Surely they could crash the dollar in a heartbeat if they dumped but they won’t because they rely more on the price of dollars than your internal market now probably and a lowered dollar helps make your exports affordable again. I doubt they’re in a position to insist you buy from them at all, let alone in gold. I would love to know how much you’ve got mind, with ya there.
This information about how long it takes a shipping container to move from China to a port in United States and be unloaded and then sent by rail or truck to different stores in a myriad of communities should be memorized by the trade negotiators.
Running the trade of the USA like a mob boss negotiates garbage pickup route contracts is like using a screwdriver as a key. Brutish to use force when finesse is called for 🌹
7% of U.S. imports from China are toys; 93% of U.S. imports from China are other types of products. 80% of toys sold in the U.S. come from China; 20% of toys sold in the U.S. come from other sources (including, presumably, toys made in the U.S.).
I was born and raised in this Country, however, as a former flight attendant for 25 years for a former international carrier, I can emphatically tell those of you who are reading my post that this Nation, in the eyes of the rest of the world, is not the hot shot "everybody needs us" you think you are. No, USA, you are not the hot shot, big wig, you think you are and the sooner those of you in DC realize this, if you ever do, the better off this Country and our relations with the rest of the world will hopefully be.
One thing that is also happening that seems counterintuitive? Shipping stocks are on fire. The shipping industry loves disruption. All of sudden they have too much capacity. No problem. They temporarily take their big bulk carriers offline, reroute some of the smaller ships to handle those routes, leaving reduced capacity everywhere. And then they can charge higher rates because space is limited.
Shipping stocks generally pay very high dividends. Because it’s a crazy cyclical business they have to return cash to SH or else nobody will stick around for the downturns which can be brutal.
But right now, it’s a great time to own shipping. Bulk, clean tankers, LNG tankers are all on a mega run.
Michael, I believe you inadvertently overlooked the obvious consequence which is significant job loss as a result of this trade war Trump is conducting unilaterally and as if the jobs in this country haven’t diminished or degraded since the 70s.
At this time, I believe Trump is deliberately taking down the United States. Further, these indications were obvious in his first term. How can such a perfect storm be explained that put America on this path if it had not been by design?
I don't think it was absolutely wrong to trade with China, but it should have been in moderation with the CCP, with the view toward security of essential items to be made in the homeland. If they don't play fair with any American company wanting to do business in China, they would be penalized. I think we have no one but ourselves to blame for the trade imbalance problem and it is way too late in the game to turn this around without a major crisis. Corporate greed should have been curtailed. That is the purpose of government, but our politicians in Washington failed miserably. Hopefully we learned our lesson for the future. Like free lunch, there is no such thing as free trade.

I just feel very sorry for you. You’re in for a very rude awakening. May He have mercy on your soul.
Exactly!

The market share percentages you cite are very low except for toys. The administration reported talks with China occurred today.
Exactly, and I wonder what direction those market share numbers were going before eh. Well they are going in the right direction now, finally.

China imports $500,000 from the US. The US imports $500,000,000,000 from China. If trade stops, who is hurt the most?

What about supplements and raw material for supplements that come from china? I didn’t see that or pharma listed.

So he says 7% of our toy imports are from China. Then further down he says 80% of
our toys come from China. I am admittedly not an economist so what am I missing here.

A "Big Beautiful" trade war! You're going to love it so much you'll say "Make it Stop"
This thing will be "Huge"
We're gonna win "Bigly" !!!
