Our business is quite labor intensive and most people are not willing to work hard at earning a living. The one area that see that is telling is vehicle repos. They are soaring.
Very few employers are paying a living wage. I was a mason contractor for years and my laborers made $15 per hour in the 1980's. Too many US employers are hiring illegals and expect US citizens to work for the same low wages, IMHO.
Most people can’t afford to work hard for your ridiculously low minimum wage, it isn’t even enough to rent a one bedroom apartment apartment in any state, if work doesn’t pay, people don’t work
Lazy!!! The Bible comments on this attitude several times. Here is one, "The principle "if anyone is unwilling to work, he shall not eat" is found in 2 Thessalonians 3:10, where the Apostle Paul commands the early church to deny sustenance to those capable of working but choosing idleness." But it seems the Bible is read and applied less and less.
I do agree there are not enough jobs. Can't we figure out how to change the job market where more can do some kind of work? Rather than multiply more generations of people willing to cheat and lie, basically break the law, to take advantage of government social safety net? It is a total mess, and where from here? Laziness might not be the whole problem, but I see do that happening often, especially when the jobs are scarce and freebies are easy.
The primary issue is the US dollar that is being printed to oblivion and becoming worthless before our eyes. Hyperinflation is already here for those on the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder.
I wish the government would do something about this generational food stamp program. I worked my tail off and never took them but people make it a generation to generation thing. Just makes me sick.
My Father raised us to work for everything we had, and work to keep it. I am 83, widow, on social security, but never got any other benefits. I am certainly in the poverty category, but with God at my side, I have always done well. As Mr. Davis said, many on the dole have way more than I do, but I cannot see they are any happier than I am. Hardly any are totally honest in their dealings, and if anything is free, they will be there to get some. I shudder to think what will happen if the Govt goes broke and cuts them off. :(
One of our family members wanted to come see us...so...we paid her $600 ticket to stay a couple weeks. She's not working, living in a cardboard shed for $300/month in a RV park...doesn't have washer/dryer, lives 2 hours from nearest town, on Mexican border, she sleeps most of the day, has been raising her grandkids and teaching them that they don't need to work or get a car...so teaches them how to lie to get SNAP, welfare, etc. She's lives with her oldest daughter and 2 grandkids (19 and 16 yrs). All was good til she slipped one evening and told us that she gets $900/month in SNAP...her grandkids get $700/month EACH in SNAP. And she gets $1500/month in SS and has only worked 3 years of her life (she's 64 now) because she was a stay home mom til her hubby found someone younger. SNAP, SS, welfare, free food from other kitchens around area as long as they show their SNAP card...and all four of them get free dental and medical. My hubby was so furious...explained to her that she can do what she wants with her life but she's hurting her grandkids...spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically and psychologically. I don't understand all this government tit stuff...in my neck of the woods a person was looked down upon if they were on any of those free money's. I truly believe there are elderly, disabled people who definitely need it...AMEN. There has to be a way to truly screen each person?
Sometime, probably quite soon, the American debt will crash the economy, when it does the great depression of the early 30’s will look like a really great time to be alive by comparison
I object to categorizing one that paid in SS as giving them a safety net. I will have paid into SS for 48 years when I retire. The return on the amount paid in is abysmal, and I was forced to pay into SS. That is not the same as all the other parasitic programs congress put in place to steal from The SS fund. Nor does it communicate the financial monkey business of Congress under Clinton and House Speaker Newt Gingrich. They changed the law so that SS was part of the treasury in order to use the “surplus” in SS at the time to claim they balanced the budget.
Al Gore cast the deciding vote to allow this. But now the people that funded SS are portrayed as sucking the governemnt tit. That is bullshit.
I think this is an op to start influencing the younger generation that will get hosed. Typical district and deflect blame.
You are absolutely correct. And it's a terrible shame that so few people are aware of this fraud. The "gov" has been stealing from SS for decades and lying to the American taxpayers that it's simply another of those handout gimme's like food stamps. Or whatever it's called now. I could rant for awhile on this topic, being one of those who paid into the SS fund and now being characterized as one of those old fogies who ruined everything for the youngsters of today who call us greedy but who are expecting everything to be handed to them simply because >they< are all so perfect and wonderful and all of them get "participation" trophies for nothing except being alive...
Ok, I told myself I wouldn't rant. Better quit now.
Hi Michael, thank you for the data. I’ve been very concerned for the younger generations.
When I managed a local bank, I had many older clients who were financially secure and many young families who were struggling. I often wished I could somehow introduce them so they could be a support to one another.
Fast forward, I’m now a functional nutritionist and have a much better understanding of the need for stewardship, organic farming, water and soil management, and the fact that God entrusted us to do this work.
We are to steward the land for human thriving, not wealth building.
Just look at the Amish communities. They steward the land, care for their animals, and help one another. They are far more resilient than most communities and would likely fare much better if our country experienced a major crisis.
I’ve been carrying these ideas in my heart for many years, even before the pandemic. The pandemic simply confirmed the need.
Last year, I started a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Zoe Stewardship Foundation for this purpose: to build multigenerational communities centered on stewardship, sustainability, resilience, regeneration, and reciprocity.
I have the vision, and I’ve laid the foundation, but the workers are few. Most people our age have homes and retirement. Many of us would gladly share what we have with the younger generation if we could invest in a community where we would also live, contribute, and build relationships.
Everyone tells me this is a great idea, but they are all too busy to help. I’m sure there are many people like us who would join in, but reaching them is the challenge.
You have a large readership. Would you be willing to write about this idea? Maybe the Lord could use you to spark a solution. 🙏🏻

Three families on our street reported to Sheriff's Dept that their cars were stolen. Found out several days later it was the repo guys.

From my assessment, tlhere are fewer and fewer jobs to be had.
You think the blame is laziness?🤔

Ask the technocrats that. Sadly for now their plans are moving on schedule. Automate with ai & robots. 🤢

It sounds awesome til you mentioned 501(c)(3)...I think you will regret that. Most staunch Christians will not help if they see 501(c)(3).
It’s a legal way to hold property. Why would Christians have a problem with that? This is exactly why I need help. ☺️
None of their #s are real. False, untruths, LAUGHABLE! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
More and more are waking up to the reality of what's going on around us.

Good lord and I thought I heard it all. I totally agree with you.
